Day 1. Arrival day

Our team will meet you in Khatanga rural settlement.

Chill out in the mammoth museum in the glacier. Here you can see the remains of a mammoth carcass, woolly rhinoceros, wild horse and many other prehistoric animals.

For lunch we will have shurpa from musk ox and sugudai from northern fish.

Khatanga is a place of traditional residence of Nganasans and Dolgans, it is their culture that we will get acquainted with: we will learn how to feed the fire, assemble a tent, make an amulet from reindeer horns, immerse ourselves in the culture of indigenous peoples of the Far North.

In the evening (if you wish) you can visit the Church of the Epiphany of the Lord.

Day 2.

In the morning we will have a safety briefing, after which, weather permitting, we will head by helicopter to one of the most ancient plateaus on the planet — Anabar. The length of the route will be about 350 km south of Khatanga. We will see carved mountains, winding rivers, white kurumnik and fallen airplanes.

We disembark on the bank of the river Kieng-Yuryakh. Here we set up camp, prepare boats and motors for rafting.

Day 3.

We master our watercrafts, learn to control the motor, choose the right fairway. We start rafting along the Maymecha River — the main tributary of the Kheta River. The river is very picturesque. The winding channel is squeezed between huge rocky cliffs. Some rocks on the Anabar plateau are over 2 billion years old!

Day 4.

The entire rafting trip is guided by experienced travelers. All team members take part in bivouac work. We will spend 7-9 hours a day on the water. Sometimes we will have to work with oars, and often — to lead the boat through shoals, leading it by a rope. Later in the evening we pitch the tents, have a supper and singing around the campfire following by the good sleep.

 Days 5-9.

We are sailing further down the Maimecha River. The speed of our movement along the river will depend on the weather conditions and the water level in the river. There will be no serious rapids on our route. The average speed of the river flow is about 5 km/h, and on the rapids the water will carry our boats at a speed of 10 km/h.

If weather and time permit, we will make radial outings to the mountains. We will replenish our mineralogical collection.

Fishing in these places is amazing — large grayling, chir, muksun, whitefish, very large pike. We will try to cook fish dishes every day. Also in the river Maymecha there are very large taimen weighing 20-30 kg. Taimen is included in the Red Book and you can catch it only if you have a license and only for the purpose of photographing!

Day 10.

We go by boat down the Maymecha (Bear) River. Our journey takes us through the most ecologically clean and untouched places on the planet. There has never been any human activity here. In August we have a chance to see the reindeer migration.

Our goal is to reach the mouth of the Maymecha River, where a ship will be waiting for us to take us back to Khatanga. It will take about 12 hours to sail on the ship.

In Khatanga we will be accommodated in a hotel or apartments (tourist’s choice). A bathhouse is waiting for us. Buying souvenirs and delicacies.
